Tulum was the first of the Mayan ruins I visited. We arrived by bus and walked up the path to the ruins. Beginning at the village site, then walking uphill to El Castillo (the castle, or temple). Only when we reached El Castillo did I realize that it was built on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea.
